Blizzard

Breathing new life into ‘old masters’ with music, theatre and puppetry, Blizzard contrasts the pain and absurdity of war with the joy of creation, openness, and wonder. Here there’s no separation between real and magical: Tolstoy waltzes, Pushkin and Chekhov meet mermaids, Gogol’s overcoat strikes up a conversation… And somewhere, in spite of everything, an organ grinder plays on.

From Anna Karenina to Belarussian folk songs to the poetry of Marina Tsvetaeva, these stories find their way to us in strange, beguiling forms. With sadness, with longing – but above all with great humor and hope – they show us that, however tragic, literature is always a rallying cry: it is always ‘good news’.

Evgeni Ibragimov is a world famous director, screenwriter and actor. This Circassian puppet master brings a warm spirit, a fantastical artistic vision and strange & magical objects to Blizzard, in addition to gathering a team of artists including Dimmitar Dimitrov, Iana Sarafannikova, Vyacheslav Kalika and Vyacheslav Nechunaev.

Part magical feast, part multidisciplinary mosaic, Blizzard will blow you away!
