The three singers of Snowapple set the tone in this large international groep featuring musicians from, among others, Senegal, Mexico, South Africa, and Scotland. They play songs from the new album by Snowapple, Wrong Feet, which is dedicated to jazz msucians Sean Bergin (1948-2012). His catchy melodies led to new music by the members of Snowapple: Una Bergin (Sean’s daughter), Laurien Schreuder, and Laura Polence. Wrong Feet invites you to experience the world in the playful, absurdist and humoristic manner of its three leading ladies.
Saxophonist and flutist Sean Bergin grew up in Durban, South Africa, and made name in the international jazz scene out of Amsterdam. He combined the music of his youth with with typically Dutch improvised music. Singing and theatre were important elements in his work. For Wrong Feet, Snowapple formed a group around a couple of musicians from Sean Bergin’s circle. Snowapple’s music is characterized by idiosyncratic arrangements, and can be described as folk-avant-garde-pop-cumbia with a punk edge.
